Gluten-Free Doesn't Have To Mean Bread Free!
As we look to healthier lifestyles, eating cleaner is one of our goals! But that doesn't mean you have to give up everything you love! There are foods that we really enjoy that may not be the best for us, and rather than not eating them at all, sometimes we can find a healthy alternative.
Diets like the Paleo Diet, Medeterranian Diet and others all have a few things in common. They promote the consumption of more fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and avoiding processed grains and sugars, including bread. For many people, bread is a staple of not only their diet, but their life! If my dad had to go a day without bread, I am not sure what would happen! But that is how he, and many others, were brought up, and what we need to realize is bread then is not the same as bread now. The qulaity and types of ingredients, additives and preservatives, farming and refining methods all have changed to add taste, wanted textrures, and shelf-life, and have decreased nutritional value.
