It is currently estimated that 70% or people will experience neck pain. This pain can come from chronic situations such as old injuries, poor posture, or weak an unbalanced musculature. Pain can also arise from poor support while sleeping, car accidents, and other injuries and changes in our lives. Most of us have been guilty of letting these issues go before doing something about them to correct them, or even go as far as taking medications to help reduce the pain. The fact is, medication will only reduce the symptom of the pain, not help fix the problem that is causing it. And unfortunately, once the medications wear off, you are right back to square one! Chiropractic care can help treat the underlying cause of neck pain, so that true healing can actually take place!
Fortunately, advances in Chiropractic care and home exercise have championed a treatment option that has been shown to be more effective in helping people with neck pain over the traditional medical route. A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine funded by the National Institutes of Health shows that Chiropractic care and exercise was superior in the treatment of neck pain over medication.
Chiropractic care is essential for the treatment of neck pain in that it helps restore normal joint biomechanics to the spine, helping remove irritation to the muscles, soft tissues, discs and nerves in the neck, and allows you to move with a more normal and pain-free range of motion. Exercising and home exercise can help restore muscle balance and aid in increasing spinal stability. These 2 things in combination are crucial for maintaining optimal spinal health. In addition to these, we also recommend moderate supplementation with anti-inflammatory nutrition supplements, including high quality omega-3's (fish oil), Boswellia, Turmeric, Ginger, and Cayenne Pepper to name a few.
Utilizing Chiropractic care and exercise is a great way to naturally relieve and get rid of neck pain. If you or someone you know is experiencing neck pain, call our office at (386) 492-4881 and let us help get you on the path to wellness!
